i felt sorry for nick because they say you shouldnt judge someone for being gay but you also shouldnt judge someone for being homophobic. my religion doesnt support gay rights but im friends with a bi and it doesnt affect me. but my other friend is a homophobic (same religion) and she gets insulted a lot and i dont think its fair. do you think its fair? to be judged as a 'monster' or 'pathetic' for having opinions? she and my bi friend are friends, but she still get insulted.

chronicintrovert:

did you mean Ben?

I don’t believe that you should fight hate with more hate. But the fact remains that homophobia - like racism and misogyny - is something awful that needs to be eradicated from the world. Homophobia isn’t an opinion, it is an act of discrimination. No I don’t believe it’s good that your homophobic friend should be insulted, but at the same time, their “views” and “opinions” are acts of fear and hate, and no one should ever be expected to put up with them and ignore them. I would like to tell your friend to get past the constraints of their religion and grow up and realise that all humans deserve equal treatment.
